Severe Threats Through Tuesday (2024)

Severe Threats Through Tuesday

AND WE’RE NOT FINISHED WITH IT YET. YEAH. CHIEF METEOROLOGIST KEVIN ROBINSON. NOW, WE THOUGHT TOMORROW WAS THE DAY WE WERE POINTING TOWARD. BUT WE HAVE TO GET THROUGH TODAY. FIRST. THERE’S A LOT GOING ON. YEAH, THIS IS ABOUT A 24 TO 36 HOUR STRETCH. AND WE’RE JUST NOW REALLY STARTING TO KICK THINGS OFF WITH SOME HAILERS OUT THERE HERE ON THIS MONDAY EVENING, ESPECIALLY SOUTH EAST OF CINCINNATI. WE’VE BEEN WATCHING THIS LONG TRACKED HAIL PRODUCING THUNDERSTORM. YOU SEE IT NOW. IT’S CROSSED THE OHIO RIVER. THERE’S STILL SOME RAIN IN THE MOSCOW COMMUNITY, BUT THE HAIL THREAT OR HAIL CONCERNING PART OF THIS STORM HAS NOW MOVED ON. BASICALLY JUST SOUTH OF FELICITY FROM FELICITY DOWN TOWARDS SHILOH, RIGHT ALONG 52. THIS STORM HAS KIND OF BEEN PARALLELING THE NORTH SIDE OF THE OHIO RIVER. THIS IS GOING TO BRING THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IN TOWARDS PLACES LIKE AUGUSTA ALONG THE OHIO RIVER. HERE, IN JUST A MATTER OF A FEW MINUTES, YOU CAN SEE IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES. AND THEN IF IT LINGERS ON, COULD GO DOWN EVEN FURTHER DOWN THE RIVER TOWARDS THE RIPLEY COMMUNITY, BRINGING IT IN SOMEWHERE, SOMEWHERE ABOUT 645 650 ISH. THE PRIMARY CONCERN HERE IS QUARTER SIZED HAIL, OBVIOUSLY PRODUCING A LOT OF DANGEROUS LIGHTNING TOO. AND I CAN’T RULE OUT A WIND GUST TO 50 OR EVEN 60MPH. WITH THAT, LOOK AT THE HAIL TRACK LEFT ON THIS STORM. NOW, SOME PRETTY SIZABLE HAIL FELL IN THE MOSCOW AREA, SO THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD ANTICIPATE ALONG ITS PATH. AUGUSTA HIGGINS, PORT, EVEN RIPLEY SHOULD THIS STORM CONTINUE. AND AGAIN, JUST CHECKING IT OUT FOR ROTATION. SOME BROAD ROTATION IN THE SENSE, BUT MAYBE MORE OF A SIGNAL HERE FOR SOME DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS WITH THAT. SO THAT’S WHY I SAY PRIMARILY A HAIL THREAT. ALSO TO A LOWER EXTENT A WIND CONCERN OUT OF IT. TWO OTHERWISE HEAVY RAINFALL STORMS KIND OF MERGE TOGETHER ACROSS BROWN COUNTY, NOISY OUT THERE TOWARDS GEORGETOWN. BUT NOT SEVERE. SAME STORY. PEEBLES OVER TOWARDS WEST UNION. YOU’VE GOT STORMS. IT’S QUIETED DOWN MOMENTARILY IN MAYSVILLE. BUT SHOULD THIS STORM UP NEAR AUGUSTA CONTINUE COMING YOUR WAY, YOU COULD BE NEXT IN LINE WITH A LITTLE HAIL OUT OF THIS SYSTEM AS WELL. ACROSS NORTHERN KENTUCKY. NOT A LOT HAPPENING. I DID HAVE A HAIL REPORT OUT OF THE WALTON AREA OUT OF THIS LITTLE HEAVY SHOWER THAT’S NOT SEVERE AT THE MOMENT. SO THE MAIN ACTION RIGHT NOW IS SOUTHEAST OF CINCINNATI. I DON’T EXPECT A LOT OF STORMINESS AROUND EARLY THIS EVENING. I THINK WE’LL WATCH A GREATER THREAT OF STORMS OVERNIGHT WITH A WIND AND HAIL THREAT, AND THEN MORE CONCERN, MEANING IS TUESDAY’S SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL IN WHICH WE FIND OURSELVES IN A MODERATE RISK AND THAT’S BECAUSE WE’LL HAVE THE GREATER THREAT OF SEEING POTENTIALLY EVEN A FEW TORNADOES TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THE PRIMARY WINDOW SEEMS TO BE BETWEEN ABOUT 4:00 AND 9 P.M., SO HERE’S A LOOK AT FUTURECAST BACK TO RIGHT NOW. HERE’S YOUR SCATTERED STORMS EAST OF US. NOTICE THROUGH THE EVENING IT’S NOT TERRIBLY ACTIVE, BUT OVERNIGHT AS A WARM FRONT LIFTS ACROSS, MORE STORMS WILL DEVELOP. AND I DO THINK WE STILL HAVE A LOW END SEVERE THREAT THROUGH THE NIGHT FROM WIND HAIL, A NON ZERO TORNADO THREAT. BUT IT’S NOT THAT HIGH AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL TO START THE MORNING COMMUTE TOMORROW. I PROBABLY FACTOR IN A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA TIME. THEN WE SHOULD SEE A LULL IN THE ACTION AND THIS IS WHERE WE GET TO OUR GREATER CONDITIONAL THREAT AND MORE SIGNIFICANT THREAT IN THE EVENING. IF WE CAN GET A NICE LULL IN THE SHOWERS AND STORMS DURING THE DAY TOMORROW, THEN WE’LL HAVE TO BE ALERT FOR THE POTENTIAL OF MORE ACTIVE STORMS, ESPECIALLY TOMORROW EVENING, WITH THE POTENTIAL OF A LINE OF STORMS THAT COULD HAVE A TORNADO THREAT WITH THEM. SO AGAIN, A BUSY 24 TO 36 HOURS IS WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO. SOME HAZY SUNSHINE OUTSIDE. RIGHT NOW WE’RE AT 66 DEGREES. IT STAYS VERY MILD TONIGHT, SO WE’LL HAVE THE FUEL FOR ADDITIONAL STORMS AGAIN. I DON’T THINK A LOT THIS EVENING, BUT THEN OVERNIGHT THE NEXT ROUND WITH WIND AND HAIL CONCERNS, 61 TOMORROW SCATTERED STORMS, BREEZY AND WARM WITH THE GREATEST THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. WE’LL TOP OUT RIGHT AROUND 70, PROBABLY INTO THE LOW 70S FOR THE DAY. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST NOTICE THAT COOLER WEATHER TAKES OVER THOUGH THE REST OF THE WEEK AFTER THE ACTIVE WEATHER HERE TO START OUT, AND THEN GOING INTO THE WEEKEND, WE’LL SEE SOME SOME SUNSHINE. AND RIGHT NOW, MIKE AND SHEREE, THE NEXT BIGGEST DATE IN CINCINNATI. HISTORY, PROBABLY NEXT MONDAY AS WE’LL KEEP AN EYE ON THE ECLIPSE FORECAST. RIGHT NOW, LET’S JUST SAY IT COULD GO EITHER WAY BECAUSE WE’VE GOT SOME CLOUDS. SO STAY TUNED. ALL RIGHT.
