World of Warcraft: Dragonflight continues the now-established end-game system of Mythic Plus, an endless dungeon difficulty mode that provides a challenge for all levels of player. Revolving around a seasonal rotation of eight old and new dungeons, it is a great way of taking part in small-scale end-game content.

Whether you are aiming to reach new heights or just starting out, Mythic Plus can be a great experience in which to have fun, make new friends, and progress your characters. This guide will explain how this system works with all the variables involved, how to physically begin a run, and what rewards you can acquire.

What Are Mythic Plus Dungeons?

World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight - Everything You Need To Know About Mythic+ Dungeons (1)

In essence, Mythic Plus is a timed, endlessly scaling dungeon difficulty. While Normal, Heroic and Mythic mode dungeons are tuned to present a specific level of challenge, Mythic Plus scales with whatever the supplied Keystone level is, and can theoretically scale endlessly. You will spend your Mythic Keystones to activate a designated instance, which must be completed within the time limit to level up the key. If you fail to time the run, your key will lower by one level instead.

  • It is worth noting that you can still complete a key and receive loot even if it is not in time, so it is often worth persevering during a tough run, as you may still end up with a nice reward.

Keys can be upgraded up to a maximum of three levels, depending on how quickly you complete a run.

The Keystone difficulty begins at two and increases for every successfully completed key. Each key level will have a scaling factor; the higher the key level, the greater the possible rewards. This difficulty increase is not linear, meaning the difference between a level two and three key is smaller than the jump between a 19 and 20. The breakdown of how Mythic Plus scales per key level can be shown as follows:

Alongside ramping up the base enemy difficulty, Mythic Plus introduces new affixes at fixed keystone levels. These affixes modify the dungeon with various new effects, such as explosive orbs or enemies dealing increased health at lower health percents. Each key will either be Fortified or Tyrannical, and these will swap every week, changing which dungeons are tougher or easier on a bi-weekly basis.

Certain affixes are more difficult to deal with, and some combinations can be especially tricky. Each week presents a new rotation, so even if you don't do so well during one week, you can always come back next reset for a new challenge.

Four

  • One out of: Raging, Bursting, Sanguine, Spiteful, or Bolstering

Seven

  • One out of: Quaking, Volcanic, Grievous, Storming, or Explosive

Ten

  • Thundering

In Dragonflight Season One, the seasonal affix is called Thundering, which is present at all keystone levels above level nine. This affix will rotate out upon the launch of Season Two, to be replaced by a brand-new seasonal mechanic.

Completing Mythic Plus keys will reward you with Mythic Plus Rating, a score that increases depending on your best Fortified and Tyrannical run of each dungeon. Try to complete every dungeon on each affix to maximise your rating.

How To Access Mythic Plus Dungeons

A system only for maximum level characters, your Mythic Keystone can be acquired either from completing your first Mythic/ Mythic Plus dungeon of the week or picked up directly from your Great Vault. The dungeon is entirely random, and the Keystone level will be the same as the best Mythic Plus dungeon you completed the previous week if the dungeon was in time, or one level lower if it was not in time.

To activate a Mythic Plus dungeon, you must enter the correct Mythic difficulty instance, where you will then see a bronze Font of Power close to the entrance. Place your keystone inside and click activate. This will give all players a ten-second countdown before the key begins, after which the timer will start.

As this is dungeon content, you will want a party of five players to take part. OneTank, oneHealer, and three DPS. Certain compositions will perform better in this form of content, but if you are just starting out, don't worry too much about what classes to bring, and focus more on learning the individual dungeons that make up a seasonal rotation.

You don't always have to run your key, as the Group Finder will allow you to sign up to other players' Keystones.

If you want to intentionally lower your Keystone's level, you can talk to Lindormi, found at 53,56 in Valdrakken. However, she will not be able to reroll the specified dungeon, as this can only be done at the end of a successful run, provided your key level is equal or lower to the run you just finished.

Available Mythic Plus Rewards

The higher the Keystone level you complete, the higher the item level of your rewards. Completing either one, four, or eight Mythic Plus dungeons will also grant you an additional Great Vault slot, the item level of which is determined by your lowest run within that bracket. The loot pool of end of dungeon loot is restricted to that specific instance, whereas The Great Vault can provide any random Mythic Plus item, regardless of whether you completed that instance this week. Alongside receiving gear directly, you will also receive a currency called Valor. This can be used to upgrade Mythic Plus gear up to a maximum item level of 415. Additional Valor will be granted if a group member's Mythic Plus Rating increases from a run, so it is worth trying to push your score as high as possible, as you will also need to hit certain thresholds to upgrade your loot.

To spend your Valor you can visit Corxian at 45, 38 in Valdrakken, where you will see what ranks your current score allows you to unlock. Valor has no cap, meaning you can farm Mythic Plus to your heart's content, and depending on loot luck, you can come out with a full set of high-item-level gear.

Certain Mythic Plus Ratings (750, 1500, 2000, 2500,) will grant you achievements, with a 2000 score providing you with the Keystone Master title, alongside a special mount!

Completing a level 20 key in time will provide you with a Keystone Hero achievement, and grant you a Teleport spell to that dungeon. While it has an eight-hour cooldown, it can be very handy if you are looking to push your score beyond the loot threshold of level 20s.
